Maria Doyle Kennedy (24.05.2013)

We are now bringing Maria Doyle Kennedy to Geneva on Friday, May 24. She first came to international attention for her soulful singing, and acting, in the film “The Commitments” where she gave Aretha Franklin a good run for her money.

She has gone on to become an acclaimed international recording artist and award-winning actress (The Tudors, Downton Abbey etc). She is in Geneva for one night only with the backing of her husband, Kieran Kennedy, a virtuoso guitarist. She has also played at major events such as Glastonbury, the Cambridge Folk Festival and Oxygen. This is an opportunity to hear her in a small intimate setting.

What the critics said about her latest album “Sing”:

“The Kennedy voice is a persuasive weapon.” – Mojo magazine

“Emotional but never anguished, atmospheric but never laboured, this is easly MDK’s most mature, accomplished and confident work to date. Ireland’s National Treasure.” – Hot Press

“Jaw droppingly beautiful.” R2 Magazine.

“She is one of the great voices of Ireland. The Celtic Patti Smith.” – Basler Zeitung
