The last time GLAS hosted Pat Kinevane was his performance of Silent in 2014 and it went on to win a Laurence Olivier award for the Dublin-based Fishamble Theatre Company. We are bringing him back for his latest solo drama for one night only on Thursday, 6 November, in our old stomping ground at the Collège des Coudriers opposite Balexert.
King tells the story of Luther, a man from Cork named in honour of his grandmother’s hero, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Luther only leaves his apartment for essential journeys, and to perform as an Elvis impersonator. The play explores prejudice, privilege, and resilience, as Luther struggles to live life to the full. It was named Pick of the Fringe at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Fishamble and Pat Kinevane have previously collaborated on Forgotten, Silent, Underneath, and Before, which have won major international awards including the Laurence Olivier, Fringe First, Herald Archangel, Adelaide Fringe, and Helen Hayes awards.
The critics have been fulsome in their praise: BRILLIANT (Irish Times), EXTRAORDINARY (New York Times), STUNNING (Scotsman), DAZZLING (Guardian), and MESMERISING (Sydney Morning Herald). Now, Fishamble and Pat Kinevane, under the direction of Jim Culleton, and with music by Denis Clohessy, return with this very special fifth solo play.
All proceeds will go to the Gaza School of Music, which continues to engage with displaced children traumatised by two years of war in the Gaza Strip. Please spread the word!
